Madrid Fusión
Crafting a narrative, translating
One of the most important gastronomy congresses in the world, Madrid Fusión attracts the biggest chefs from across the globe. Now into its 21st year, it is a highly influential event, showcasing talent and innovation while uncovering the gastronomy stars of the future.
I attended the congress as press, reporting on the high profile event, for several years before joining the communications team to assist with international content in the 2021 and 2022 editions .

My work has consisted in producing daily reports from the main auditorium, summarising the highlights of the international presence in the congress. I spend most of the day attending demonstrations and keynote presentations and select the highlights and key moments of the day, summarising them in a concise document, which is distributed to media outlets across the world.
While there I also produce thematic reports, picking out the common narratives and highlighting trends, as well as English language reports of individual chef appearances.
I also help out with meeting the needs of visiting international press, including translation services to journalists wishing to interview Spanish chefs with little knowledge of English.
My unique profile and experience has put me in the perfect position to fulfil this work. I lived for four years in Madrid and know the city very well, I speak the language fluently and my work as a gastronomic journalist has given me connections with many of the visiting speakers. Of course, as a journalist myself I understand perfectly what international press needs during the event.
My work at Madrid Fusión brings together all the elements that I enjoy the most in my work and it is an assignment I take a lot of satisfaction from.
